Keep rankings, backlinks, and first party search data distinct
Each source answers a different question. Use position history, link changes, Search Console, and GA4 together without pretending that one metric explains everything.
Rank tracking that reveals the entire SERP
Add keywords one at a time or insert a list. Each carries its own land and equipment. Each check queries live results from Google and records your position and associated features: an AI overview above the results, a featured snippet that is yours or not, and “People Also Ask” fields. Group-level views, average position with change, position distribution, and a click-weighted visibility score make sure that the drama of individual keywords stays in view.
Checks issue a live credit of SERP per keyword, which is why scheduled automatic checks are enabled per site. The Change Report sorts moves into improved, rejected, entered and lost, with alerts and a weekly summary if you want it. Growth and Scale add an outside historical trend for estimated organic traffic and traffic value. A newly created tracker therefore begins with multi-year context instead of waiting months for a useful baseline.
Backlink monitoring, honest scope
The monitor monitors the links you import: insert, CSV with anchors, or a Search Console export. Weekly checks capture live, lost and changed statuses, anchor text, follow or nofollow, and source page status, all with a changelog per link. Two counter-signals that no standalone monitor has: an AI cited pill, when a linking domain also appears in the AI responses collected for your website, and an anchor ranking, where you rank for every meaningful anchor on Google. A disavow file export handles the links you never wanted. What it deliberately isn't: a crawled index of the entire web's links.
Search Console and GA4, connected to the crawl
Connect Search Console and the insights arrive pre-sorted the way an SEO thinks: winners and losers, new and lost searches, click-through opportunities in positions 4 to 20 with estimated profits, possible cannibalization when a search query splits across multiple pages, and content decay shown over 28-day windows. Connect GA4 and each crawled page transfers its traffic, problem priorities become revenue aware, and the AI recommendation report shows the visits that ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and other assistants send you with the landing pages they selected. Both connections are read-only, the tokens are encrypted at rest, and each can use a different Google Account.
Monitoring that comes to you
Per site, you select the channels and events: crawl regression alerts, daily checked robots.txt and sitemap change monitors, rank movement, lost backlinks and weekly summaries for Search Console, GA4, Core Web Vitals and Decay. Delivery takes place via email, Slack or Teams cards or via a webhook. The weekly executive report links it to the health movement and a Focus Now action per location, and the monthly stakeholder email includes links to live reports. As a rule of thumb: alerts for things that need a decision this week, summaries for everything else.
Pay attention to the things you pay for
Track your money keywords, protect your earned links, and have the platform notify you via email when something moves.
